Rhetoric & Composition Certificate

The Composition Program now offers a graduate certificate in Rhetoric and Composition. Students interested in obtaining the certificate must complete 12 hours of coursework.

To complete six hours of this sequence, students must take two required courses: ENG 5100 (Composition Theory, Practice, and Pedagogy) and ENG 5300 (Studies in Rhetoric and Composition).

In addition to completing these courses, students can either complete ENG 5990 (Capstone Project) and a selection of courses related to the student's project adding up to three hours, such as ENG 5300 repeated with different course material, 5120, 5121, 5122, 5123, 3 hours of the Writing Project, 5200, or an appropriate course in another department (with the permission of advisor).

OR

Complete a graduate thesis in the field of Rhetoric and Composition (6 hours)
